Phil Moller - Brown - Green - 6'2 - Red Model Management
full name, hair, eyes, height, agency
MDC Model of the Week Phil Moller was scouted on his way to watch the World Cup while in NYC. The 17-year-old has a great face, just look at that bone structure... am I right? This kid for sure could book some YSL Homme or Dior Homme type shiz. I have no doubt in my mind that we will see him in print at least by this time next year. Let's hope his walk is strong; I could see Galliano picking him up... well, if he has the physique to impress, lol.
More shots after the jump...

Brooklyn
Your daily dose of Theophilus London, lol.
Because I'm still mentally recovering from last night's Robyn/Kelis concert;
I'll just copy/paste Nike's description of the 1Love project:
As part of the lead up to the World Basketball Festival, Nike Sportswear is connecting the Five Boroughs of New York City in a celebration of hoops, culture, and its iconic Air Force 1 sneaker. Nike Sportswear has chosen five ambassadors from each of the five boroughs to participate in 1LOVE, a program that includes a online documentary series, a basketball tournament, and a Manhattan block party takeover.[sidenote: if you for whatever read any of my posts about you TL;
just know, I'm not crazy, or a stan... I just really dig your swag]

This video, created by Tavi, from Style Rookie, and her sister Rivkah is just an adorable, and innocent way to start the morning. I really love this short film more so because of the quote, and it's embodiment of the quote which appears in the film: When girls grow up, they lose their childlike confidence and can never get it back. While this may sound defeatist at first, the film shows Tavi shrugging off the negativity, and in the end, realizing that there is positivity to be had; that she can retain her confidence and just have fun in being who she is. This lesson can be extended to guys as well, at least for me it applies. I find myself second-guessing myself, and taking criticism to heart far too often, instead of just loving the me that I am, and being the best me I can be. For Tavi to only be 13, going on 14, I admire her self-awareness, and her innocence...
If you're reading this Tavi Gevinson; never let anyone cause you to dim/lose your light... let it shine as bright as the sun, because there is always someone, somewhere, that needs that little extra light to guide them through the darkness... You rock little lady, lol.

An excerpt from Lady Gaga's upcoming Vanity Fair cover story:
Instead of rehab, though, when disaster struck, Gaga “went home.” She tells Robinson, “All I will say is I hit rock bottom, and it was enough to send a person over the edge. My mother knew the truth about that day, and she screamed so loud on the other end of the phone, I’ll never forget it. And she said, ‘I’m coming to get you.’” Gaga says they went to her 82-year-old grandmother’s house in West Virginia. “I cried. I told her I thought my life was over and I have no hope and I’ve worked so hard, and I knew I was good. What would I do now? And she said, ‘I’m gonna let you cry for a few more hours. And then after those few hours are up, you’re gonna stop crying, you’re gonna pick yourself up, you’re gonna go back to New York, and you’re gonna kick some ass.’"I love her honesty; this is why she is my inspiration... I love you Mo†her Mons†er.

L'Hiver Avant L'Hiver — Vogue Paris (Aug10)
[shot by: David Sims; styled by: Carine Roitfeld & Emmanuelle Alt]
Let me begin by saying I am now 10x more anxious to get my hands on the August issue of French Vogue simply because of this 65—yes, SIXTY-FIVE—page editorial shot by David Sims and pulled together through the combined efforts of Carine Roitfeld and Emmanuelle Alt. The editorial which shows off the best of what is to come for this f/w 2010 season from all the top designers, features an outrageous line-up of models: Freja Beha Erichsen, Iselin Steiro, Joan Smalls, Daria Werbowy, Isabeli Fontana, Crystal Renn, Frida Gustavsson, Aline Weber, and Monika Jagaciak. I can't even begin to describe to you what kind of fashion seizure I'm having right now; this is overload for me... I'm sure these images will all look ever the more amazing in print; but for now, I offer you the digital versions. Obviously 65 images is a lot to place under a cut, so I instead plucked out my favorites and suggest you zip on over to Fashion Gone Rogue for the rest... actually, scratch that, I don't suggest it... I'm ordering you to if you have any semblance of fashion interest whatsoever, lol. It's nice to see they included Crystal Renn, but I have to wonder if it was simply to ride the momentum of her current 'plus-size' train. Freja looks good, though her expressions leave much to be desired; it would have been nice to see more than just a couple shots of Joan Smalls, but then again, this is French Vogue, and she is a woman of color; Daria looks the best overall in my opinion... no one can step to her...
except maybe Eniko (I love me some Mihalik, lol)
eta: I made a mistake, this was printed in the August issue, not September as originally stated.

Snapshot: Powerful Imagery // Strategic Marketing
Time Magazine — August 9, 2010
From Time:
Our cover image this week is powerful, shocking and disturbing. It is a portrait of Aisha, a shy 18-year-old Afghan woman who was sentenced by a Taliban commander to have her nose and ears cut off for fleeing her abusive in-laws. Aisha posed for the picture and says she wants the world to see the effect a Taliban resurgence would have on the women of Afghanistan, many of whom have flourished in the past few years. Her picture is accompanied by a powerful story by our own Aryn Baker on how Afghan women have embraced the freedoms that have come from the defeat of the Taliban — and how they fear a Taliban revival.While it may be true that violence against women is a serious reality for many in Afganistan, I'm left wondering if it is doing any good to use such images to sell magazines or promote propaganda. This image is disturbing, it's powerful, but is it a fair representation of what's really going on? How does our military presence in the country really help to end the gender-violence and reverse the centuries of gender inequality that exist? Another issue that didn't strike me as an issue until I read this recent post on Feministing, was why are we focusing on the image of the woman, and not what she is actually saying? To be more clear, we are to feel outrage over the damaged image, and not the true issues such as access to education, medicine, religious gatherings, marriage laws, child marriage, divorce laws, domestic violence and the list goes on. I'd like to see a more competent cover, one that doesn't depend on shock value, but rather one that instead focuses on the women themselves and the oppression they face; this cover tells me nothing of the Afghan woman's struggle besides the fact that some aspect of her outer beauty was tarnished... or at the very least, give me a subhead that talks about the issues at hand. I haven't read the article, and don't have immediate access to Time, but if I do, I'll be sure to add additional commentary. Feel free to disagree; I'd love to hear your comments.
